LCD Screen not turning on

I can turn on the printer and can connect to usb but the lcd screen doesn't come on. I have the red lcd and i have the ribbon connected correctly. The red wire goes to the short end of the adaptor or left side. A is on top and B on bottom. A is connected to ext 1 and B to ext 2 but the lcd is just black.
