source of squeaking in extruder

Post by dbarrans »

I found a source of squeaking in my extruder that I haven't seen mentioned here before. It's periodic, directly related to the rotation of the bolt that holds the drive roller. The bolt has a very slight bend in it, barely noticeable, but it causes the axle spacers to rub on the outer housing of the bearings on the idler. Clearances are very tight here, so I don't know if a straight bolt would be enough to help. Maybe a smaller diameter for the axle spacers would be the best fix.

i retorqued my bolts and beveled the gears on the filament roller and my creaking noises went away. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... &start=180

I milled about 2-3mm off the boss on the bottom of the extruder mount plate to allow the knurled nut to sit a bit higher to avoid interfering with the idler gears. That got rid of the creak, but there are several different noise sources in there.
