By some chance, is anyone else attending the Inside 3D Printing event tomorrow at the NYC Javits Center?

My wife and I will be there much of the day, checking it out.
I don't know quite what to expect, but it could be interesting.

Re: Inside 3D Printing NYC event
Thanks for sharing this -- I'm not plugged into this industry enough yet to know about conferences/events/etc.
This looks cool! I think I'll go for a little while, at least. I really want to hear the Voodoo Manufacturing folks talk, which I think is on Tuesday. But I'm not spending $500 for access to the Manufacturing track of talks.

Re: Inside 3D Printing NYC event
Heh. Not planning on going to that event. But I have been thinking about attending the Rapid3D event in may down in Orlando. It's fairly reasonable, at least for students. (And SME members get a decent price cut as well). seems like an interesting event though. A little pricier than most of us probably want to deal with as simply hobbyists. (As in full certification and conference price for rapid3D is more than a Max kit).

Re: Inside 3D Printing NYC event
The "networking" registration (trade show and keynotes) is free for this event... that's why we able to attend.
I will let you know if anything interesting strikes us.

It was mostly a yawn. My favorite thing was seeing the little Deltaprintr in action. Nice little machine. The hot end is really tiny. The hope to deliver next month. It will be very interesting to see how their machine compares to the Eris.
Re: Inside 3D Printing NYC event
According to the published specs, it will run Smoothie on a custom board, and it has magnetic arms. The machine is 9.5x9.5x18". I think the entire printer could sit inside a MAX. Disappointingly, no heated bed, and I'm guessing the custom board doesn't even have a FET for that. I can't tell by looking.AlanZ wrote:My favorite thing was seeing the little Deltaprintr in action. Re: Inside 3D Printing NYC event
Doesn't look like they have a fet for that, or a terminal. It doesn't even look like they have a proper terminal (screw or spring cage) for the hotend. Also not a big fan of what appears to by 2x2 headers for the steppers. It's a cute design, but I'm not really impressed. That said, it won't quite fit in a stock max without inverting the arms, it's a hair too tall, especially with the new arms. I do like their heatsink though. Since they aren't going modular on the drivers that's the best approach IMO. Not a huge fan of how much they cut the board down, but for the price point they aimed for, and the mechanical quality of the printer, I suppose it's alright.

Which machine was that? I hope the Eris does not have a competitor already!AlanZ wrote:It was mostly a yawn. My favorite thing was seeing the little Deltaprintr in action. Nice little machine.
