50x15 blower fan, layer fan mount, e3d v6

Having troubles as my stock layer fan has the wires snapped at the base, not sure why it just happened mid print. But in any case, resoldering it is near impossible for someone of my skill and replacements are seemingly impossible to get in the UK. (being a broke student doesn't help either)

But I do have a 50x15 12v blower fan like this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MJUD1DW/ ... dxbWJM21WP

I'm hoping someone might have a layer fan mount for this fan (long shot I know) or know of a solution.

My particular hot end mount has the end sit about 62mm below the end effector, I fouud the mount I had it similar to the stock hot end position meant the heat break fan couldn't fit so any help or recommendations on mounts would be very welcome as well.

Hi Vikingfx, I didn't really get the chance to test this as I've just moved on to an E3Dv6, but I did modify the original fan mount for that exact fan. I've ordered two of these fans, and both had a different dimension on the nozzle, so it may be worth double checking your fan before printing this. The internal dimensions for my fan were 13mm x 17.5mm, with the printed part being 0.4mm undersized to account for some expansion I was having. I'll attach the .stp as well should you need to edit it.

not the answer you were looking for, but I am UK based and picked up 3 of these a few months ago http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1pc-3wire-NEW ... Sw7ThUhog3, same size as the stock layer fan and had no trouble running them. They have a signal cable but I just cut it, other than that I believe they are the same model as the stock ones

I also had layer fan wires fatigue fail at the point they enter the fan after soldering them back on (requires careful disassembly of the fan) I used a dollop of Hot glue as a strain relief.

thanks guys, im going to keep looking into this for the hell of it and to build on my cad skills, but i actually managed to get some 30x10 from mouser.co.uk, with a slightly higher cfm. got payment from a comission through so it made sense to order some, though now i have 5 (minimum order to get free shipping) so i might try the combined shroud and platform ive seen on here.

Davedesigns thanks for the design, ill take a look, ive done a mount based around the standard 50x15mm blower fan dimensions so i should be able to combine the two and post it up here in a while.

another update, found a fan mount as part of an overall mount on thingiverse

That is an excellent idea for all fans on our machines. There can be a lot of movement of these wires and your idea will help them not to break at the fan.
