No solder joints on back of the LCD

Post by leafi »

Hey everyone

Does anyone know if there should be 2 connections on the back of the LCD (one on each of the connectors) which are not soldered? Ill try to post a pic later if you dont know what I mean.

Thanks

yes post a picture, all of the connections should be soldered on the back of the lcd where the connectors go. Possible that you might have a bad lcd which I had myself.

well I took pictures on my phone. IN the pictures I could see what looks like solder in the thru hole but it did not wick up the pin or break the surface. I guess the bottom side of the card was wave soldered however that is a really poor solder joint.

No I am rather far from that step. I only have time on the weekend to build it so I had to stop on Sunday. Part of me is thinking that Im never going to get this thing working right but Ill give it my best.

my replacement lcd from seemecnc didn't look like all the solder joints were soldered either 2 were suspect but i don't know if that matters.

what matters is the lcd powered on and displayed properly which it did.
