Carbon fibre delta arms

Post by Saber »

Hello, all. I really don't know if this is where I should put this or not, but in a nutshell, I ended up with a Geeetech sort of Kossel-Rostock bastard child with 200mm delta arms. How would I go about fabricating some carbon fibre units, or installing magnetic ball arms? All the information I could find on the subject showed off people building theirs, but no info on parts or what kind of magnet.

Search for "Xanaron" if you're interested in magnetic arms. If you just want plain ones, I'd imaging that you'd find what you're looking for by searching for "traxxas".

Thanks, I have no luck with forum search functions. I'm torn about which way to go- I find myself wanting mag-arms because of their zero-slop tendencies, but at the same time I'm sort of leery about them because a good smack will dislodge them.

Personally, I would look at a combination of carbon fiber tubes from ACP, and tube inserts from say, Mcmaster carr.

http://www.acpsales.com/Carbon-Fiber-Pu ... -Tube.html and http://www.mcmaster.com/#Standard-Tube-End-Adapters. I would then use the magnetic style, but add a pair of sprung lines between the carriage and the effector, to keep some load on it, as I doubt very heavily you'd want to buy the zero-slop rod ends (I found some, but they are giant and expensive (12$ each, 24 a pair))
