BONDTECH EXTRUDER

Has anyone installed a BONDTECH Extruder? If so, what did you use for a Mount?

I just bought Bondtech's Rostock mount. For the price (US$15) I couldn't justify the hassle of making one. If you want, though, you do have the option of downloading the STL for the mount. All you have to buy is the threaded inserts.

I did the same thing (Although since I bought mine at MRRF, he just threw the mount in). Other people have used the generic mount (which is meant to attach it to the edge of something) in the top deck or on top, and ran the bowden tube through the filament feed (There's plenty of room. I have an infeed bowden on mine as well as the outfeed)

I decided to make my own mount for the BondTech QR extruder. All the ones that I could find attached to the top plate of the Rostock MAX V2 and put the extruder too close to the top of the enclosure for my tastes. I decided to design a simple clamp mount that attaches to the original extruder support arm on the V2.

This was designed used FreeCAD. I hope this is helpful to someone. If you need the FreeCAD file I can send it.

I printed this one in Zen Toolowork flexible filament that had a pretty decent rigidity compared to ninjaflex to prevent the extruder motor noise from being amplified by the melamine parts. STL file is on this page http://shop.bondtech.se/ec/mounts/kosel-mount.html
I just drilled the melamine for the holes to center the extruder so it never touches. The sound of silence.

That's brilliant! Great idea using that bracket printed in flexible material. You inspired me to print some pads using some Ninja Flex I had sitting around to see if that would reduce the noise. This was my first attempt printing with Ninja Flex on the Max V2 after installing the QR, and I am very happy to report that so far the QR pushes the flexible material thru without any problems. With the original extruder I could never run faster than around 12 mm/s. With the QR I did a test print at 30 mm/s and it printed perfectly. Wow!

I re-worked my mount for the QR to give it more isolation. Printed using Zen Toolworks flexible filament, it is now very quiet. Here's a picture:
