print fails/shifts. Could operating in a hot room cause problems?

Post by n108bg »

So i'm running into occasional print failures, usually about 4 hours or so into the print on a long print (12hrs or so). According to my hotend, the room i'm operating in is getting up to about 30 degrees c. Would this be enough to cause print failures? If so/not, what can i do to not waste 200g of PETG on a print?

It's possible that's the straw breaking the camel's back and causing the axis steppers to overheat, but unlikely. Pulling the smoked acrylic panels off the corners might give them some more potential cooling.

How close is the print going to the outside diameter of the build volume and what travel speed are you using? The Rambo is an 8-bit microcontroller doing a lot of computations for the delta kinematics. The further the effector gets from a given axis, the further that axis has to move for a given move in X/Y. As the build approaches the outside diameter with a high travel speed, the Rambo can get overwhelmed and be unable to pass enough steps to the motors. If that's your issue, the answer is a slower travel speed for at least the portions of the print that approach the perimeter.

wow, i wasn't aware that was even a thing. Yeah, i have prints that are getting out to the edge. I'l slow down the travel speeds when the prints are big.
