at what point did you increase the height? My frame shipped on 2/24, is it one of the longer frames?

Apparently this thread is no longer active? I hope MHackney is in good health and he is just too busy to revert back to this build. My best goes out to him and I will continue with my metalmax build. I was hoping to follow along his trials and tribs to help educate me.

I hope and pray that is the case and that he is not falling out of love with the 3d printing obsession. He is involved in sooooo much stuff that he may of had a mental and physical breakdown Let's hope not.

For those who have been following this forum for a long time know that MHackney participation is seasonal, there are certain times of the year he has no available time because of his businesses that pays the bills. I'm trying to be more consistent here but May/June are extremely busy months on all sorts of fronts. But I'm back now - a much shorter hiatus than years in the past.
This build has been stalled due to lack of time. I have a couple of other projects - like beta testing the new Duet WiFi - and then I will pick this up again.

I been following this thread for a while now too, just curious if you ever got around to making those brackets. I would be very interested in a set. I am in MA too. pm sent, thanks! By the way, are you thinking about making the TrickLaser carriage arm mounts out of aluminum? Seems like something reasonably easy to water jet cut out of 3/16 sheets of aluminum and then tapped (I might still be able to get those done if you like a set). edit: actually just spoke with my waterjet cutting guy and he will whip up a couple sets of the carriage arm mounts this week for me, I'd be happy to send you a set. I sent him a DWG drawing based on your STL (modified the alignment hole size a little according to Brian's trick truck CAD drawings).

Well, after this project stalled due to time constraints primarily I'm picking it up again. However, I did get far enough with my build to realize that the linear rails are going to eat into my build diameter by about 2", so a 10" build diameter (max and I think it might end up being smaller than that). That didn't sit well, I need the space to print multiple parts at once.
Then along comes Brian and TrickLaser's new Trick Truck X Mini Carriages and new ball-cup CF arms and matching effector. These will accelerate completing this machine and provide basically a "assemble from existing parts" solution that might be more appealing to folks wanting a state of the art, rigid delta printer.
Here are the new parts: So the new Max Metal project will consist of:

- Onyx heated bed
- FSR bed leveling (primarily because Duet firmware does not support the accelerometer probe yet, but I am going to mount an extra PCB so I can start working on that)

I couldn't wait to get started, these parts sitting on my desk were like a Siren calling "build me, build me". I took off the linear rails and my custom offset belt guides, carriages and tensioners. Once I had the Max Metal down to it's stock frame, assembly of the new Mini X Trick Trucks, Ball Cup Arms and plate took 6 minutes. And boy are these parts beautifully machined and those red ball cup ends are the perfect bling!

I have been trying different things for almost a year, but was never satisfied with anything.
Until one day recently I had a "Ah ha" moment... this design I am pleased with.

No. But I will likely design using them as the tower itself so I don't sacrifice print area. I have linear guides on one of my mini kossels and it is the quietest and most precise delta I have. I'm also using these same rails on a new Core XY I'm trying to build with a 24" x 12" x 18" build envelope.

I have a new design for an FSR base plate that moves the FSRs out from the bed perimeter to minimize/eliminate any rocking movement when probing between FSR mount points. It looks like this:
Now I need to find a laser to cut the thing out!
The FSRs will be located under the apexes (red). A Delrin plunger is mounted to the underside of the plate and a milled brass holder with the FSR in it will be mounted to the Max Metal frame at the tower vertex.Now I need to find a laser to cut the thing out!
