New build, no power on board

Post by abecker »

Hey everyone,
I just finished building the Rostock Max v2 and when I went to power it on the power supply fan turns on but the RAMBO fan does not. There is also no display on the LCD. I checked the 15amp fuse and it looked blown so I replaced it and there is still no power with the new fuse. What would you recommend checking first?

Check the wiring at the rambo board connectors. make sure you don't have any loose strands of wire.

And you have the two nanofuses to check also. the 15 amp is just for the heated bed.

I would first check for shorts. For example, on the LCD adapter, where the fan was soldered to the board, and so on. If you haven't got a multi-meter, I would buy one for this purpose after a visual inspection. Set it to continuity mode, and see what shows as being connected, then take a closer look. I would also test the 5A nano-fuses that supply logic and hotend power.

I just checked the fuses, it looks like all 3 fuses blew when I first connnectes power to the board.

Below are pictures of the power supply and power connector. Verified all terminals on power connector are supplying 12 volts.

did you replace the fusses yet? I would replace the fuses then unplug everything from the board and power it up and see if the lights on the board come on.

If yes, turn it back off and plug one thing in. Keep going one at a time till you find out what is blowing the board.

if no, time for a new board.

So its odd that all fuses blew the first time, but I plugged everything back in with new fuses and it powers up now. Thank you for the support

Maybe the fuses went bad during production.

I don't know the exact layout of the board, but I find it very strange that all three fuses were blown...
Glad you got it up and running.

I might buy a few extra fuses just it case when the fuse blew it cleared itself and once things start moving it'll happen again...

Yeah I did get some extras, and I am thinking the same thing about them already being bad. From searching online I can't find anyone where all three blew at the same time.
