Question about extruder
Question about extruder
When I am using the computer to extrude or retract the filament, I notice if I hit the -10 it will retract, but if I hit it again it does nothing. If I wait about 30 seconds and hit -10 it will retract again. Is there a reason for some commands not being executed? I noticed this in Simplify3D and MatterControl.

Re: Question about extruder
It seems that no one has an answer to your question.
We have a lot of knowledgeable people but obviously we don't know everything.

Re: Question about extruder
Might be a silly question but when do you hit -10 for the second time? Do you hit it while the extruder is still retracting the initial -10?
Re: Question about extruder
No this is after it finishes. I don't know if the firmware would have any background processes that would block it, but after some time I could reliably hit the extruder -10 button or +10 and it would start moving each time I clicked.

Re: Question about extruder
I did have some communication problems when using a cheap Chinese 5meter long USB cable. Replacing it with a good one solved it for me.
Don't know if that could be the issue for you too.
Also, what's your Baud Rate?

The cable I am using is the one that came with the printer.

Re: Question about extruder
Yeah, I occasionally get it going forwards if I sit there and belt the +10 a few times to purge the hot end when changing filament.
At this point I usually completely lose trust in the comms session, so I restart both the printer and MatterControl to get to a "known good" state. Can't remember whether Repetier Host used to do it, but I don't think so.
