Lines in print after HE280 upgrade

Post by abecker »

Here is a picture of the side of a print after upgrading to the HE280. I haven't changed any settings in the slicer except going back to the 0.5 nozzle size. Any thoughts on what may be causing this?

Bump your temp up a bit or slow down - it looks like filament starvation to me.

Sounds good I will give that a shot. Any thoughts on the lines towards the bottom right that are sticking out from the side of the print?

I agree with gene and those additional lines could be the same issue, what can happen is if the back pressure is too high, the hotend temporarily stalls, but builds up additional pressure, which then results in a short period of over extrusion.
it can also happen if the flimament doesn't form a strong bond with the layer below and gets displaced on a subsequent layer, but without seeing it print the error, it's hard to know.

Hi,

I just had an issue almost exactly the same and it turned out to be a combination of under extrusion (steps per mm set incorrectly) and my hotend was loose as well.

Qdeathstar, was your issue with the new HE280? I'm going to try increasing temps and see if that helps. I thought maybe the gear in the new EZRstruder wasn't aligned but it doesn't seem to have issues feeding the filament through the bowden tube, though I haven't found a good way to see in there to tell.

I should have also mentioned I was printing PLA. It looks like there is another thread with similar issues also, http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=10838

Tried another print, this one is using the same eSun PLA pro, but instead of printing at 205 I upped it to 215. Below are all 4 sides of the hollow square.

Also, when I received the HE280 pre-assembled I noticed the nozzle was sticking out of the bottom some. It is fully tightened however. Would this affect anything?

The nozzle installation is correct.

If its related to back pressure and a possible blockage have you checked to see how well the PTFE tube is seated inside the hot end. In the HE280 the PTFE tube is pushed all the way down against the heat break. Also make sure the PTFE tube is cut cleanly at 90 degrees. If there is any gap then heat creep will cause things to start to back up where the PTFE tube isn't seated properly.

I had a similar issue with mine after I upgraded. Even though I knew I had to do it, I didn't seat the tube properly and I started to get lines near the end of my first print and then it clogged on the second.
