Here it goes- super n00b here but as long as I get a reply to help, i'm ok with being flamed.
I have never had to run a probing "script" before. I see there is a script Gene posted and I have it ready to go.
I guess I run the script on the printer as if it is a print file on the SD card? That much I think I figured out.
Then what?
Just select the file I want to print from there? (sliced gcode of course)
My auto-leveling experience (which is little) is simply adding a G29 in the Gcode in S3D. Then its all done. It runs this before every print.
Is this "script" the same as a G29 but more complicated? Can I simply paste this in the S3D Gcode area, slice, and save to SD and run from there?

Why would you even think you'd be flamed for asking for help here? Have you seen any flames on this forum for folks asking for help?
Grab the script from my thread. I think Gene updated his post but apparently there was an issue with the location of the m500 in the file. I KNOW mine is correct so grab it and save it. You do run the script as if you were running a print. You can do it from the SD, from Matter Control, from OctoPrint - basically from any controller for your printer. Use whichever method is convenient for you.
After the script runs, either pre-heat the bed and nozzle or simply run the gcode you actually want to print and print it.
The script is more involved than G29. And, it is recommended that the bed and hot end be COLD, not being heated. So it is best just to run the script before you start printing for the day and then have at it. If you paste this into the slicer gcode header - which you can certainly do - you need to be careful not to start a print when the bed and nozzle are being heated.

I ask extremely dumb questions and even the kindest of people cant handle it sometimes. Thanks for the prompt reply. So far this community and the company has been awesome.
Getting closer to understanding the process: If I print something, is it necessary to re-run the script before the next print? If so, I wait till the machine is cooled down if I understand correct.

So far, from my experience, I would definitely not re-run the script unless there's a reason to (like you moved the printer to a new location or had a first-layer problem).
Some auto-calibration runs are definitely better than others, so if you have a good one, keep it.

Thanks for that! I just ran the script and not is says "saving calibration" on the LCD. Been 10 minutes and the message will not go away. I thought it would go away when done. Guess not?

M70 persists the message until you do something to change it.

Did you get a chance to watch the video that covers how you run the script?

My goodness. I totally missed that last video at http://seemecnc.dozuki.com/c/Rostock_Max_v3
I see that direct-connected with mattercontrol is the main slicing of choice. I have ALWAYS printed via SD cards so that will take some getting used to. Never used Mattercontrol before. Im a S3D user and dabbled in Cura only when I had to.... Something more to learn I guess.

If you're using S3D and printing via SD card, then there's no reason you need to use MatterControl.
MatterControl is recommended because it's open source, free, and for the most part, gets the job done.
