Need help calibrating extruder height.

Post by Thenoober »

For some reason when the extruder goes towards the edges of the printing bed it lifts significantly. And i have no idea how to fix it.

Here's a video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZcWT75678M

Isnt that the horizontal radius setting?

Im sure V3 instructions don't cover this (as its automated), but they are in V2, towards the end, after the firmware portion.

Bed radius calibration starts at about 3:30 into the video. That's almost two years old, but I don't imagine it's changed much. At least the process and the required adjustment rates and effects will be the same.

I tried following that video, but it's such a dramatic change that it makes no difference. The extruder swings from the center and raises to the edge, as you saw in my video.

Because the change is so large, youll probably need to modify the radius substantially. Since it is going up, youll need to decrease the radius (I think). Start out decreasing it by 1 (maybe even 2) until it gets closer, then start changing it by smaller and smaller increments.

If I remember correctly mine was off by ~3mm (from the default value).

Also, if you've got a dial indicator (analog or digital), those really help for getting both the end stops and horizontal radius calibrated correctly (and precisely). I just picked up a cheap one off amazon for ~$10 and made/printed a mounting bracket thing to fit where the nozzle did.
(Can upload the file this evening)

In the video they show the radius change creating a rise like yours but of around two inches by changing the radius from 129.75 to 160.
