Axis problems

Post by brickvideo »

After a year of working fine my MAX v2 has recently hit a snag. Cleaning out a print head jam my Z-Axis has been giving me issues. I am having problems with the z-axis column. 2 main ways this manifests is 1.) At times things will begin to print off the plate anywhere from a mm to 200+ mm. 2.) Most of the time z-axis arm seems to not respond. The other arms move and the print head will swing back and hit the z-axis post.

Trying to test the matter-control software will show a 0 for z -axis and be unresponsive to software "manual" moving; until I hit home, then the manual software moving + or - works. The entire print head (all arms) will move up and down.

I switched computers as a test and my first print printed fine and then the same issues came about.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Check the stepper connection on the Z. Check the driver chip, make sure its not getting too hot and shutting down. check the stepper motor, feel it and make sure its not getting too hot and shutting down. (stepper will get hot through normal operation though)
