axle works it way loose...

Post by edwardjanderson »

Hello - I have a Rostock Max V2- When I have prints that run for several hours I find that 2 of the 3 axles on the hot end creep out until the clip falls off. Is there any way to adjust the axle to prevent this?

Thanks

I would try some light oil, like 3 in 1 oil, on the axles. If they're lubricated, the clips will be able to keep them in place.
Do you have the aluminum U-joints, or the Acetal ones?

If the axles are working out, he's not only got the metal u-joints, but a binding problem as well.

I _strongly_ recommend that anyone with the original u-joint arms replace them with the new ball & socket design (and the new injection molded carriages).

Thanks guys for the forum and the suggestion to oil the axles. I have had the same issue as Edward and this solved it.

Now on to take a gander at those upgrades. Unlike Clark Griswold, I'm buying 3D printer parts with my xmas bonus, not putting in a swimming pool. Video
