Hello everyone,
I am having some issues with my H1.1. Printing with PLA, it will work for about 3 days then jam.
When I take apart the hotend, I can see that the PTFE has allowed the filament to swell, expanding inside the PTFE and creating a bulge. This causes a jam once the PLA cools a bit.
I am printing with the new nozzle design, at appropriate temps, with a fan blowing on the PEEK. I'm about out of hope at this point... it's really frustrating to cut new PTFE every 3 days because of the jam.
Should I maybe try to buy a budachnozzle and print with it?
Thanks everyone,
Adam Brown
PLA jamming issues
Re: PLA jamming issues
I also have issues with PLA stringing and leaking out...
I am considering buying one of these and trying to mount it...

Good idea? anyone have any experience?

Re: PLA jamming issues
What temperature do have the Hot End at when you are printing with the PLA?
Re: PLA jamming issues
A more important question is, do you have a fan on your PEEK? If not, please rad the sticky "fan" post in this forum.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen!
I have my temp at around 160, although i have been adjusting it up and down in incriments to no avail.
Also, as I said I do have a small fan on my PEEK, although I never turn it off. Literally, never. It has been running for about 2 months nonstop now. Could it maybe be worn out? Do I need a sort of funnel that channels the air directly to the PEEK or is blowing across it enough?
Thanks for the sticky BTW, very informative post my friend.

Adam, if it is blowing air, it is not worn out. It may simply be not directed at the PEEK properly, you may need a funnel or dedicated mount on the H-1. If you have a fan blowing properly on the PEEK, there is very little chance - especially at the reasonable temps you are using - that your melt zine is creeping up. I suspect a misdirected fans, those rascals.

Hmm it's mounted fairly well and pointed right at the PEEK, I think I will try making a little funnel out of some cardstock and see where that gets me.
Re: PLA jamming issues
I picked up that new Jhead Hotend. Print quality is leaps and bounds above what I was getting with the stock nozzle!
I maintain that the seemecnc hotend is NOT appropriate for use with PLA and a small nozzle. That combo simply leads to jams and issues.

Steve's nozzle works. It is probably the most finicky nozzle I have ever used (although the Magmametal is running up on it). 160 degrees is to low for most PLA. Assuming your temps where correct, which honestly I doubt becuase most PLA won't extrude well enough to print until the 175-185 range, then most likely you had some extreme prussure in that nozzle. If you put that much pressure in a j-head and then do a quick retract, it will jam as well. All IMHO, glad you got it fixed.
