On a side note, have the first batch shipped yet? Especially too an eager Australian?

Awww dang it... I guess I must have been #7 to order, because I didn'the get a notification.Mac The Knife wrote:I received my notification this past Monday,,,,, I'll be receiving my Metal this Friday.

If you make these changes please include the updated files to your collection.ccavanaugh wrote:Significant progress this weekend.
The electronics housing as designed needs some tweaks. I need to deepen the housing about a 1/4" to clear the LCD controller.
When assembling, reclaim the 4-40 t-nuts from the v1 skates or the plate the heated bed threads into and install those into the underside of the snowflake. You can then use 1/2" 4-40 screws to secure the heated bed.

I'm sure it would make it more ridged but I would think it would be difficult to make sure it was "squared" up without the guide pins that come on the metal max towers. I would also guess that once you saw how ridged the top could be you would want to remove all of the melamine.
I suppose it would allow you to do incremental improvements working towards a full metal frame. I know our hobby is an expensive one and sometimes it's hard to justify laying all the money out at once....
The latest files including STEP files are now available. I'm gearing up to print the latest housing for the smoothieboard. The files should be good but have not been tested yet.Eaglezsoar wrote:If you make these changes please include the updated files to your collection.ccavanaugh wrote:Significant progress this weekend.

Quite a lot of files on your Github and I truly appreciate that you shared them with all of us.
Awesome! Are you going to base the build of the parts I designed or are you designing your own?forrie wrote:Woo hoo...my frame has made it safe and sound to the other side of the world. Just in time for the start of my vacation from work. Took me nearly 1/2 hour to unpackage it all...beautifully wrapped!
Thanks for offering to post what you come up with. That's one of the things I love about the users on this forum, everyone is wiling to share.forrie wrote:I'll probably use many of your parts (if it works why reinvent the wheel!), but I have a few other ideas I want to work in (top, base, fsr). I'll post them all once I get it figured out. I suck at CAD but this should be a fun learning experience...and I have a month off from work to figure it all out.
