Thanks, I planned to do that but they are sold out and a quick Google did not turn one up elsewhere. I am going to give them a call tomorrow and see what the wait is. I remember when the Viki was on Kickstarter (or one of the others). It looked pretty interesting.

cheers,
Michael

Michael, I thought about what you said and I have decided to stay with dual extruders and let you big hitters KraK the ball.
Just think, no dozens of questions from the Eagle! I do wish for the very best for all of you who are going the Kraken route
and it will be a lot of fun reading about how you did it. Cheers!

Eagle, you won't miss anything (but maybe a bit of pain and agony) by waiting a bit! I don't even know if I[ll get a Kraken in the first batch!

Congrats and I do hope you document how to set it up, it should only be a short while and you'll be crackin the Kraken. :)

Sure will. I also just ordered my Azteeg X3 with 7 SD8825 stepper drivers. Now I hope that monster Kraken will fit on the Rostock!

Are you 100% certain the Azteeq will support the Kraken? I get confused when I look at the diagrams for that card. The Kraken itself looks to be fairly small.

I'm 99% sure today and 100% sure that it ultimately will. I know I'll have to breadboard the 2 extra extruder drivers. It's not plug and play.

Well that eliminates me. If it's not plug and play that means for me that it's plug and not work. Have fun!

Two more questions for today. Do you plan on attempting to fit the card and breadboard into the bottom of the RMax or are you considering some sort of external placement.
I ask because I have seen the Azteeq X3 and it is significantly longer than the Rambo.

The other question, was the shipping on the Kraken their usual 35 British Pounds?

I have no idea until I have the electronics in hand. I've modified the bays on my Max so it will likely fit.

To all who may need one, as of today, January 14, 8:02AM Panucatt has approximately 30 VIKI LCD in stock. Move fast because these sell out fast.

I'm glad you got one. Those things sell out fast! I didn't need one but I figured I'd leave a note for those who did.

:) I like to be in control whenever possible. I also go directly to the source for information, like in this case. I find it is very effective. I got the email at midnight last night from Roy and bought the display before going to bed. I had intended to post that they were available here too but you beat me to that draw!

cheers,
Michael

The E3d-Online website is showing the Kraken "in stock"!

This is new, I was on the site 2 days ago. No update on the status of my order. Maybe it will just show up!

New Azteeg X3 Pro

Post by mhackney »

Thanks to another member, I learned that Panucatt has an all new Azteeg X3 Pro controller with outrageous specs! This board is based on their Azteeg X3 but support 8 - yes 8 - stepper drivers and 5 - yes 5 - extruders!!! It looks like an amazing package and should be perfect for a Rostock pushing around a Kraken! I had literally just purchased my X3 2 weeks ago. I contacted Roy at Panucatt and told him what I plan to do and that I hadn't done anything with the X3. He is letting me trade up to the X3 Pro! Great customer support there and this looks like an awesome, out of the box, solution for Kraken.

Kraken pre-orders also got an email today saying that Krakens would start to mail on Monday and be finished by Wednesday. They have upgraded to silicone tubing for the water cooling (which I was planning to do as I've been more successful with it on my water cooled J-Head). They have also assembled and sealed the hot-end on these orders, so that is cool too (no pun intended).

So, we'll be Kraken shortly!

cheers,
Michael

Does this mean no new card for the extra driver chips on the X3 for those of us who need it?

No, not worth the effort and cost to produce given there is now an option. It really isn't difficult to interface the drivers. If you have an X3 and need help, let me know.
