Well with all the problems I've been having with printing via the SD card I'm not entirely sold on it, the new board may happen to fix those problems I've been having too, but honestly I think I'm just going to stick to USB printing, I have and old UMPC that I don't use anymore since I've replaced it with a tablet, however I think it would be a perfect computer to load repetier-host onto and make a permanent mount for it on my Rostock since it's a self contained windows 7 pc, and it's small enough that I could mount it directly to the rostock.
Another good option is a Raspberry Pi running OctoPrint. I had a couple failed prints after I got up and running last week. Since going to the OctoPi, my printer's been working fine. I'm running with the LCD panel unhooked right now.

I do have some ferrites on order for my ribbon cables, and I'm going to try a few other bits to reduce the likelihood of noise.

If you wanted to turn your noise reduction efforts up to 11, you could re-cable all of your steppers in shielded cable (Cat6, take a pair to each of your 4 wires). Cat 6 is supposed to be 2x 24AWG per pair. 24AWG is rated at 3.5 Amps in chassis wiring, so you'd be OK with steppers that pull something like 2A max.

That actually wouldn't be a bad idea for the end stop wires either - split out a Cat6 up over the printer to give you 3 pairs (plus spare) for the end stops. Then, you've only got one wire to run down to the enclosure, versus fishing those fine-gauge wires through the extrusion. The Cat6 I bought has a little + shaped plastic piece holding each pair separately, plus a foil shield around the outside under the insulation.

Before trying to solder 10AWG wire to the Onyx, make sure that the wire will fit into the Rambo.
Some have setup the Onyx to run on 24V through an SSR which works well to decrease heat up times.
It can handle 12AWG wire for sure. I've got mine wired with that.

I just got a 24V supply last weekend - my SSR should be waiting when I get back from my work trip this week.

Well getting a Raspberry Pi would be an additional purchase, the UMPC I already have sitting around, plus since it is a full computer it means I can slice the part right from that, no more slicing, saving the gcode and transfering it ;)

Sadly the ferrites on the ribbon cables didn't help on mine. What I may do is just get some round ferrites and loop the stepper motor cables around them to kill the noise from them since one of the Electrical Engineer at my work said that would be a good idea to do with the amount of noise that would be coming off them.

That's good to know 12AWG fits, I'm gonna check 10AWG, if it doesn't then I'll just go with the 12AWG, or maybe just see if I can double up the 14AWG that's already there.
