At least we're not getting the snow they were predicting. I've only got about 2" on the ground. Weather man was definitely a dude, promising 8 to 12 inches and only delivers 2!!

Never do anything you don't want to have to explain to the paramedics.

What's with that? Walmart in Salem, OH was packed with people who thought they were going to snowed in for a week.barry99705 wrote:At least we're not getting the snow they were predicting. Re: Who's ready for Spring?
I see we are talking about summer already and I'll talk about my favorite place to eat on long island during the summer. Just to ensure I don't totally reveal my location, I'll talk about my favorite place to go in the summer a little far away from my location.
Flos

Corey Beach. For those 3D printer enthusiasts stuck inland, I present a beach.

A few towns away from me there is a luncheonette called Flos. They are a small shack less than a block away from the beach (the beaches around me open up to the great south bay, which is blocked from the atlantic ocean by Fire Island).

The food served is the best kind of summer food. They have burgers (served on sourdough buns!) and the lemonade is perfect to beat the heat. They don't serve seafood, although there are 5 other places within walking distance that do.
Also the town of blue point is home to the famous blue point brewing company, recently acquired by anheuser busch.

(The long boardwalk that takes you across the island from the GSBay to the Atl. Ocean opens up to one of the most scenic beaches I know of)
The other place that I really enjoy to be at is a 20min, $5 ferry ride from corey beach. It's fire island's sailors cove and opens up onto the Atlantic Ocean.

Re: Who's ready for Spring?
Those burgers sure looks good! Nothing like being out in the sun enjoying a burger.
You guys and your pictures are making me even more sick of this long winter then I was before.
But keep them coming, they help give me hope that spring will eventually get here.

I am. Though it won't be spent fishing, or hiking, or sporting of
This is actually a big reason (as sold to my wife) for getting the printer.
Going to build a scale model
Initial sketch

The view

Moving heavy "lumber"

Pouring concrete with my home made skid steer attachment. Well, the attachment part is home made.
The mixer was free, and a purchased mixer/attachments go for some $$$

Where we left it last fall

Next up will be running trusses. Hope to be dried in by fall, a lot of work for two people. ( two summers ago we had two others helping pack tires). This summer we might get help too.

Re: Who's ready for Spring?
Wow, what a kickass looking structure.. You going to build all of that??
Speaking of badass beaches, here's the one closest to us... It's still 15 minutes from my house though

Re: Who's ready for Spring?
Thanks! yes, that is the plan. living space up front, Greenhouse under the arch, and the containers (there are 5 in total) are the 1 for the Shop, 2 for the Garage/Extended shop when needed, 1 for Greenhouse shed and utilities, and 1 for the Studio wich will be double wide with a single container. been 4 years to get it as far as it is.McSlappy wrote:Wow, what a kickass looking structure.. Wow, that's such an awesome design - and using shipping containers! Looks like you're building my dream house
I do like the beach, it's so beautiful here, but I do miss Colorado which was my home before moving here.
