So here is the debate statement and question:


FAQs are expert posts. In other words, they are the correct way to do something - mostly likely asked over and over again.

To summarize:
Forums are made up by community members who post.
Wikis are generally crowdsourced as well.
Moderators moderate.
FAQs are crowd-sourced content - delivered by moderators/content experts.

Question:
Can a wiki survive alongside an FAQ system? Do you choose?

I reckon a wiki and FAQ serve slightly different purposes. If I have a problem, go first to the FAQ where 80%, the commonly occurring questions, are answered and you're done. Need more detail or the question didn't make it to the FAQ? That's where the wiki comes in.

BUT

A FAQ, wiki and a forum? Nah. Overkill. The role the wiki gets relegated to by the presence of the FAQ is more than adequately performed by appropriate use of stickies in the forum.
