Re: BETA testers discussion
Yea, im a good one for overkill, but being a clear target would IMHO make it easier to see the light pattern and see the adjustments being made. If the pattern is two squares, an inner and outer one so the pattern hits to the inside of the outer one and the outside of the inner one should give you a pretty accurate calibration??? Or it would make for a difficult calibration as the projector and mirror would have to sit perfectly square and true.geneb wrote:Might be overkill David. Card stock is cheap and it would be pretty easy to print a disc that would fit in the vat and have a circle cutout in the center as the calibration shape. That way not matter how it went in, it's always correct.

I have no exprience with this type of printer, but am still questioning a larger print area. I fully understand that you would lose resolution not only due to the pixel count, but also to bleed of the curing due to longer exposure times. Its a perpetual paradox for sure...

Here are some 'test' images I made. I have no idea how well these will work for calibration, they will probably fail, but I tried making some anyway.

Re: BETA testers discussion
A thinner card stock with a laser engraved alignment pattern on it would work as well.

Re: BETA testers discussion
I saw somewhere the rough specs the projectors needs. Anyone happen to know what they are? Or what page that was on?

How did I miss that? Lol.mhackney wrote:On the first page of this thread - the 4th or 5th post down.
Re: BETA testers discussion
Not a bad idea. One thing you will want to incorporate into your calibrations is different line weights. As a rule: you'll want a circle, vertical members, horizontal members, a nice 45deg member, different line weights, a solid filled shape, and an outlined shape.brent wrote:Here are some 'test' images I made. Re: BETA testers discussion
For those of you who have ordered the ACER P1283 projector, I just uploaded what we're calling the "Projector Riser" to Repables. The 40mm version (78752 40mm Projector Riser_Locator.stl) is the one you'll want to print 3 of as you wait to get your Beta Kits. Just ignore the 30mm version for the time being.
I also added a door latch. 1 required
Pics later, when my pieces come off the printer.

Re: BETA testers discussion
Printing my 3 risers. David, it looks like the feet of the projector fit into recess in the riser. The bottom of the riser has a boss that fits into holes in the melamine base. These are printed upside down!

Re: BETA testers discussion
jjjohnson, the riser STL is not clean. I was getting weird artifacts slicing in KISS and it identified some issues. I've cleaned it up in Netfab. Here is the repaired and clean STL.
Cheers,

Re: BETA testers discussion
For now the projector is just sitting in the riser/locator. The conical shape serves a self centering / locating function. It makes the removal and replacement of the projector really simple without rigidly mounting it to the base. Additionally, since the DropLit has been designed considering multiple projector models (some taller than others) these risers get the ACER P1283 closer to the VAT.
mhackney, thanks for the cleaned up .stl. My original files sliced well in Slic3r and MatterSlice. I uploaded clean .stl files to Repables.
All the 3D printable hardware has been uploaded to as a single Repable here: http://repables.com/r/371

Re: BETA testers discussion
No manual yet. I _thought_ the kit was going to show up yesterday, but it turned out to be a box with Rostock MAX related stuff in it.

Re: BETA testers discussion
Thanks for the new riser files - printing them now. My projector is on the way today, the other parts are printed, and I'm stocked with resins... ready for the fun of assembly and test!
