You can't attach the heat bed directly to the clear plastic bed that comes with the H-1. It will melt like you experienced.
I create an air gap (~1/4 inch) between the bed and heated bed to prevent the bed from warping.

Some folks use a thermal barrier, I don't remember what its name it, but it sounded like it did a good job insulating the plastic bed from the heated bed.
