Hnmm... it seems that one thorough wipe in the beginning is all what is feasibly achievable in a delta.

If you actually need to wipe on every layer, you've got one of a few issues:

1) First layer only - your gap between the head and the bed isn't right.
2) Not using the right filament diameter in your slicer
3) Not using the right extrusion diameter / nozzle size setting in slicer
4) Bad retract / prime / wipe settings leaving blobs
5) Scratches on your nozzle providing a place for buildup to stick to (which ironically could be exacerbated by overcleaning with a brass nozzle)

The wipe idea sounds great for clearing prestart ooze (the only reason I actually need to go down to my printer when I start a job), but if you actually needed to wipe between layers, I think you'd be better served fixing the root cause(s) of why you're getting crud on your nozzle.

I do not have problems between layers. Just over thinking things. It was mentioned that the Up does this. And it might be a desirable feature.

So... design for only an initial wipe it is.

This, plus 24V power supply, plus tuned PEI bed and the printer should be fire and forget.

This looks amazingly cool. I would be interested in helping out with the mechanical design, but I have to build my printer first. The kit arrives this Wednesday. I am a mechanical engineer specializing in prototype design and this looks like a really fun project to potentially contribute to. Let me know if I can help out in any way. (If it takes a while for me to respond, its probably because I'm having to much fun building or playing with my new toy.)

Not like that. There's a setting in at least one of the slicers that lets you build a wipe column or shell outside your object, I dunno whether it's more for nozzle changes or ooze management but it seems to be just build something to the side where we can wipe off the nozzle.

Ugh... it's killing me. I know I've seen a nozzle wiper mod here about 6 months ago, but I can't seem to find it! It was just a brass dremel head that sat stationary on one side that the hot end wiped before heading to the print...

I vaguely remember that too.

I am putting here the details of the parts that i am getting. If some one wants to do the same or collaborate.

the idea is to hook these up like the "led attachments for the rostock max" on thingiverse then wire them up to an arduino that communicates over I2C with the Rambo, write a separate M code for it and then finally write some header g-code for the prints.
