Curious to see what you figure out on the Z-Lift issue, I have been seeing the same thing and its inconsistent(lifts on some layers and not on others)...

Poking around on the forums, you can see a lot of people are noticing it's an issue with Matter Control. Hopefully they can fix it.

I took the time to put the cork dampers on the motors tonight, wow what a difference that makes!

The easiest fix for Mattercontrol is to just use Repetier Host instead.

Yeah, that's definitely a consideration. I was hoping to stick with Mattercontrol, since Seemecnc is partnering up with them / it's the default. I'll have to check out repetier host, though, and compare. How easy is the switch from one to the other? Can I easily go back and forth?

The host software has nothing to do with a Z lift issue. That's a slicer configuration change.

I'm using both Mattercontrol & Matterslice currently (Did I mention I'm totally new to this?) - though I've looked and can't find any setting to tweak/change, so I'm pretty sure the lack of z-lift is a bug. Once I realized that's what was going on, I started watching, and you can see it happen throughout my prints. Sometimes it lifts, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't I get drag marks across my print (you can see them on the winterfell print I posted) and/or extra plastic (winterfell and the pyramid both show it).

I can try switching slicers within mattercontrol. I assume that in doing so I'll need to re-do my slicer setup with the options for the new slicer?

I didn't notice that he was just addressing the z lift issue. As for the other issues,,,,

For the z-lift, setting Minimum extrude requiring retract to 0 has gotten it so it lifts for every post in the pyramid consistently.

So, despite my plans to stick with Mattercontrol/Matterslice, I got lured into trying Octoprint, and am now using Cura as a slicer. So far the results have been great, and freeing up the printer from the laptop is awesome. Still have a little tweaking to do with the new software, but prints looked every bit as good right from the start.

hello all....i got my max 2 this past November but only just put it together a week ago but had to wait for the abs to get here...so i started printing 2 days ago..

it actually took me about a month to build it due to health issues but i am a patient person so there was no rush...the same goes for why i waited to start building it actually...

but i will tell you this..hehehe.. THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!
this printer looks awesome
this printer prints awesome right out of the gate (after some very easy calibration)
and it actually doesn't cause a lot of residual vibration like a typical 3d printer with a moving bed so i have my max 2 perched on a TV table just because..i really thought i was gonna have to take part of the kitchen tables real estate over but now the wife is happy about that!

i plan on upgrading to 3 extruders very soon so can someone please direct me in the best way to go...like are there better extruders and/or better hot ends to go with..?
also if i go to 3 extruders on the max2 will i lose a little on the radius i have with just 1 extruder?

anyway...thanx in advance...
and i will try to help who ever i can as long as my fingers can still type....lol

I strongly recommend you read through the many dual extrusion threads on the forum before you decide to goto multiple extruders.
I had a kraken on my V1 for a long time running 2 extruders, but ended up taking it off, there are issues with having to have PERFECT geometry for the hotends to be level relative to each other everywhere on the build plate and the not in use hotends will tend to catch on the print as it passes over the edge resulting in failed prints.
In retrospect solutions like the E3D Cyclops are probably a better way to go,but I'd wait until more people get theirs running, so you can understand the tradeoffs.
The Rambo board also doesn't have enough motor drivers to drive 3 extruders, you'd need to move to something like an AzteegX3 or add a daughter board with a driver on it.
