Looks awesome. I'd be interested in the frame plans and if SeeMeCNC would sell/make them, the melamine parts as well.

I already have the R3 heated bed, Meanwell SP-750-24, extra hot ends, and was thinking about making the switch to Smoothieboard...nearly have enough parts to just build another printer.

It'll be a little while until this is 100% done. There are only 2 different melamine parts to cut(3x parts total) I'll make sure to update all the models once its done.

Small updates. most cables wrapped, spool mounts designed and printed. Extruder designed, prototyped and printed. I might revise it to have ptfe through it all the way rather than having some PETG surfaces for filament to ride on.

I'll start with a single extruder. I just got an E3D volcano eruption pack full hot end to install but I'm just starting to move today so that'll get pushed out a few weeks I'm sure.

Looking really good.

How are you spreading the drive belts to go to either side of the extrusions?

See, now you're making me think... I wonder what would happen if I build my Max Metal "upside down..." I love how everything is sitting on top, and it looks like the wiring is more easily contained.

I'm designing my next printer to have all of the electronics up top. I know some other people that are working on this as well ;)

been playing around with calibrations and speeds, did a quick manual calibration with the indicator. No issues there.

Next I hooked up my SSR. I put my hand on the bed first time powering it up, it got hot pretty quick, the control wires aren't hooked up! The power goes + from the power supply, to the SSR, from SSR to heated bed, then heated bed is grounded to the power supply - on the correct side of the SSR of course.

Just like this, except no signal on the left side:

Any ideas on the SSR? Its a used Crydom.
I don't know if you got this sorted or not yet, but I've seen where some have placed the power supply on the "ground" side of the heated bed and that's fixed this issue.

I am using the seemecnc idlers, they're cheap and simple!

That is one of the things I plan on trying when I get around to it, thanks for the heads up!

I really like having the electronics on top, everything is there, super short wires except for power running to the top(unless you put the power supply up top) and heated bed wires. I forgot about the thermistor wires somehow now I'm holding off on using the FSR's since I don't have enough room for more wires.

Pretty sure we need updates on this build. :)

I've been pretty busy, moved home and shop and purchased a Haas VF-4SS.

I have a e3d v6 volcano setup to install when I find time to recalibrate the v2

That is indeed a nice toy.

Before I bought my Max V2, I was considering building an extruder head for my small cnc mill. That HAAS on the other hand, you could print out some serious patio furniture.

Its going to be a fun toy :P

Did some first cuts(made a quick fixture) today.

The VF-4SS I bought is a 2003 model with super low hours and next to no abuse. Should make some very nice parts.

I work in a machine shop with about 10 Haas machines, from VF-2 w/Rotary up to a VF-3 gear drive. Tried working with a Fadal once, but once you're used to the Haas controls, everything else is so complicated!

Put the Haas to work to finish up this printer :)

Thanks!

Got the umbilical wrapped. I don't think a Rostock Max can do this ;)

I'll have to come back to this another day, just have to wire up my heated bed and thermistor for it then see what it can do!

Next I'll make billet carriages. I really don't like Taulman 910 for structural parts, its accurate and strong but its so flexible!

Are you planning on enclosing this printer? If not, CF filled PLA would be a good option for the carriages as well and will weigh significantly less than the billet ones.

Just need to cut the plastic for the enclosure. All other provisions are there already.

I can lighten up some billett carriages probably lighter than plastic if I had to but I don't think it's completely necessary.

Thanks guys :)

To be fair, I am design engineer who designs equipment for a living :)

Problem with selling a printer like this is nobody will want to pay the price tag. I didn't really spare any expense in building it. I have over $300 into the linear rails alone - and they're used. Some day I'll look into putting together a high quality kit but I've got too many other projects at the moment. I haven't had a chance to print much with this one yet.

Hi,
One advice.. Today I purchased Silicon Heated Bed 220V i will use SSR... It is very bad to wait for more than 10mintes to get the existing PCB heatbed to come to print temperature. Here is the link of 300mm diameter bed, i purchased one 200 square bed also... I think you will also need this in near future ;) :
