Well, ordering one of these is a PIA. I planned to order from TrickLaser as I like doing business with a US company and I know Brian. But he only has the 12V cartridge and I need 24V. So I went to the vendor site but they do not add shipping when you check out so I have no idea how much shipping will cost to Boston. Having been screwed with shipping from 2 other Canadian companies I won't order anything unless I have the total.
Especially when I see crap like this on the web site:
Where do you ship too?

I ship worldwide! I use Canada Post for all shipping so I can ship to any country that trades with Canada.
Note word in red, use proper English if you are a company doing business.

Are there any other sources in the US?

Michael, when I use the Canadian site, they show the postage options when I check out.
These are the options for the Prometheus only shipping.

Small Packet (<250g) - 9 Business Days (No Tracking) $9.75 USD
Tracked Packet (<500g) - 7 Business Days (Tracking) $17.75 USD
Expedited Parcel (<500g) - 5 Business Days (Tracking) $20.75 USD
Xpresspost (<500g) - 3 Business Days (Tracking) $33.50 USD

Not exactly inexpensive for a tracked package. May be better to order from Brian and pick up some 24V cartridges somewhere else.

My last ship expense purchasing direct from DisTech was $9.75 december of 2015 going to Indiana. I remember it showing up via USPS and took about 5 days to receive after I placed the order.

Thanks all. When I attempted to check out I chose PayPal and no postage options were added.

If you were to create an account with your address the checkout would probably show the postage.

At this point I've lost interest. I don't have time to screw around with inefficiencies. And I did log into my paypal account and my address was there. I run my business with PayPal checkout so I know the routine. Not sure why their integration worked this way, probably a Canadian thing.

Did you create an account on the site itself? I believe that is what you have to do. I can tell you are becoming angry
over the inefficiencies of the this site so I will just drop it. Have a great weekend Michael.

No worries Carl, I'm not angry. I didn't create an account on the site. My two stores' PayPal integrations do that automatically so I didn't expect to have to do that.

It means that Canada has different ecommerce laws than the US that can dictate how and what information can be shared. I've worked for a Canadian based tech company and we had several situations where we were not able to do things that were straightforward in the US. Sorry if the tone put you off, I replied on my iPhone. But your response certainly could have been more polite like "mhackney, what did you mean by the comment on being a Canadian thing?"

Sorry, I had just finished watching a (US)show that really bashed Canada , then I read that 10 minutes later and saw red.
Didn't mean to sound like an ass.

Sorry Rigger for clouding your post.

You are right Eaglezsoar. We should all get along!! :)

Thanks Holy1, I take great pride in my reputation and treating everyone with respect and fairly. It is true that the written word sometimes does not come across the way it was intended. That's what happened here with my post and comment about a "Canadian thing".

Cheers,
Michael

Holy1, thanks for your apology. When I read what you said to Michael I could not believe that it came from you.
You had the courage and understanding to apologize and that is what is important and shows what a good person you are.
As far as the television or internet sources taking shots at Canada, although I do not like it such things are a common place
occurrence for Canada, the United States and many others. There are a lot of mean spirited people out there and I personally
think they are jealous of the freedoms we enjoy. Take care.

No biggie... It's an election year.

FWIW, I went ahead and ordered a 12v E3Dv6 kit with the Bowden adaptor. We'll see how this goes...

You'll love it. If you didn't get yours preassembled, make sure to read the assembly instructions. The most important part is tightening while it is hot and leaving a tiny gap between the nozzle and heat block.

Yeah, I remember your investigation concerning the long orifice of the nozzle, combined with the tiny gap you just mentioned.
As it happens to be I received some 0.4 nozzles in the mail few days ago, and measured orifice lengths of 1.2 to 1.4mm.
So it seems that the design is not yet adapted (or I received older stock).
Should I bore them shorter? Do I need to polish the inside afterwards, and how would I do that?
Thanks!

I would proceed carefully and not modify them at all. I've ordered well over 30 of the .4mm nozzles in the last year in 6 different batches and they have all been spot on. Did you get yours direct from E3D or from a reseller? If a reseller, I would raise the flag with them. If from E3D you might email them and ask what's up.

Otherwise, make sure you did indeed measure accurately. If so, then test the nozzle by printing before boring.

I did not polish mine when I bored but I did burnish by twisting the drill backwards (using finger tips only to power the drill - no motors!)

30+ a year!
how long do you run your nozzles in service 1000 hours 200 hours 100 hours ?
or are you running high abrasive filament through them?

I give a lot of them away and I do have something like 12 hot ends that use them. But most go to friends. I run SS for abrasive filaments like the CF PLA.

Hmm, I took an other one from stock, and measured 1.14. If I remember correctly you advised an orificelength of about 0.6mm right? I got these directly from E3D. I zeroed my caliper at the length of the drillbit, and then measured agin with the drillbit inserted. I don't know how much the inner angle of the orifice measures, of course if that differs from the drillbit that would throw my measurement off... Would you consider this a faulty nozzle?

Take a look at the drawing: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/images/b/b2/ ... NOZZLE.png

It looks like they step down the orifice and the .4mm diameter section should be .80mm in length. With the step down to alleviate pressure, this geometry works fine. I'd leave them alone and try them out. I haven't had any issues with mine. This new geometry is more difficult to measure unless you an get a 1.5mm drill and be sure it is seated all the way into that little recess.

I got the kit, because A.) I love to fidget with things, and B.) I'm a cheap bastard... I already have the assembly wiki downloaded onto my iPad for offline access, and have read it from end to end at least ten times... And will probably re-re-re-re-read it a few more times before I'm through. And then again once it's up and running.

I'm kinda funny like that...
