(Bone) funny...
So, I fixed the solder nightmare and added crimps. Cleaned up the wiring a bit (I would definitely change the manual to read: do not use ties downs on the columns for the hot end wires until wiring job is completed and hot end installed). It's a pain to move those wires around but it's possible when done with care and finesse. It makes for a much cleaner job (the measurements) when done after installing the hot end. Remember: the (vast majority of) peops who are using the guide have never assembled a printer, so "experience" (with this model, I mean) doesn't exist. The instructions call for 2 1/2 inches being okay, but the length needs to be fine tuned for a truly slick appearance.
Just saying.
Oh, and I guess this would be another place to put a simple line of explanation (for those of us who always question), such as: USE the crimps; do not solder the ends. When the printer is in operation solder WILL melt or evaporate. Luck, or lack of it, will determine how much damage will result.
