I've been lurking for a while, but now that my printer has arrived in Brisbane (and appears to be languishing at the airport; no doubt Customs are using the box as a coffee table while deciding how much tax to charge me) I've decided to say "hello" :)

I'll be assembling my printer over the coming mid semester break and hoping to use it thereafter for uni work (first year engineering) and just to teach myself some new tricks. I'm looking forward to seeing what the existing SeeMeCNC community is building.

G'day, and welcome.

Good luck with the build - seems the common advice is to 1) download geneb's assembly manual; and 2) follow it to the letter. No shortcuts, "I have a better way of doing that!" etc the first time around, get it running then start making changes.

Worked for me, any road!

:)

Yep, that's the advice I keep getting :) I'll be following the directions rigorously; this isn't like an Ikea dining set.

Another hearty Welcome to the best support forum for this sort of thing in the industry you are in for a great time!

i made the mistake of using the manual on my iPad for the first part of the build but i had a very hard time keeping track of my place and found i was missing steps.

So my advice is to print the whole thing out (and later also print out the user manual) even though it cost me about $35 in Epson printer ink.

with a printed manual it is smooch easier to keep your place and both make notes and check off each step. also Gene's use of waxed string for neater wire bundles is a wise extra step.

And lastly Follow Gene's words like holy writ! don't try an "assembly by photograph duplication" and the links to short video confirmation he has made are very useful as well.
