Issues with overhangs and largeish print

Hey all-

I'm having some issues printing off a couple of larger pieces.

In particular I seem to be having issues with overhangs and support. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what might be happening? I'm printing in black ABS with a shower curtain enclosure.

There are so many problems here it's tough to know where to start:

I think the small spots on the flat areas are issues with the pla itself, perhaps not being dry enough.

There appears to be some splitting on the tall areas where layers are not adhering properly.

On the overhangs I'm kind of baffled. I used kisslicer with too little infill, and I think medium support.

Here are some other images of the piece:

I've got my first layer to the point where I'm happy with it, I've solved a lot of my problems, but I'm not quite sure where to go on this issue.

Here is a shorter piece illustrating the same issue with overhangs:

I appreciate any thoughts or guidance you may have! Also, if you have any really good test prints that you think are especially good to test this, rather than printing these big objects again I'd like to have a smaller object to work on. Is it possible I was printing too fast?

Thanks-

Mark.

I think the delaminating between layers is a matter of actually building a heated enclosure.

I would disagree on that...

I don't think you are printing your ABS hot enough, it appears that you may be having extrusion jams/slows that cause gaps or too little material being extruded. This can also be caused by not having your extruder calibrated correctly. In the first set of images your edges had bulges and there were little blebs of plastic on the sides, this is classic over extrusion which can also cause the extruder to jam...

I have printed almost entirely in ABS for the last 14 months and I just built an enclosure last month(which really helps with warping), but I have never had issue on big parts with delamination(which is what you are seeing).

Ok, I'll go back and try to reprofile the ABS. I think those little blebs may be from humidity- I live in a very humid climate, and that abs has been sitting out for months, if not a year. Baking the abs might be a good idea too, to get rid of the humidity.

It seemed to be flowing just fine when I tested it, but profiling the filament isn't something I have a ton of experience at. My current extrusion temp is 235.

Thanks for the ideas!! I really appreciate it. I'll go back and re-read McHackney's guide to great prints again, see if I can't do a better job of setting things up. I also may be printing too fast. Those were super big prints, and I can't print for more than 15 hours a day due to where the printer is located. People need to sleep. I'll try to find some test objects and check my speed.
