Rostock Max V2 with a e3d titan direct drive?

I had the idea after seeing the e3d titan that it could be possible to run it as a direct drive extruder with a small pancake nema 17 stepper. I feel this could be light enough to be mounted on the toolhead. Anyone have any comments or ideas? I have tossed around the idea of doing an airstruder with the setup as well...

I think you should be able to do that relatively well. The titan is quite light weight, especially with the pancake. I personally would recommend going the airstruder route so you can use a larger motor and get more torque, but I see little issue with the lightweight pancake approach.

I like this idea. I am about to do the same thing myself, or considering it anyway. I put in an order for the Titan and was planning on trying the air struder. By the way they are 10% off on E3D website with code "Extruder3D". It ended up being cheaper to order directly from UK even with shipping than other places I've seen, with bowden addon. Please let me know what you end up doing. I am hoping that the Titan will fit into the mount already made at http://repables.com/r/531/. I can't really tell by looking at it but I'm sure it would not be hard to modify.
