Presently i am working on converting ordinary DC brushed motor to closed loop servo. I scavenged a DC motor from embroidery machine and 3d printed a low resolution encoder wheel (4-slots 16PPR quadrature mode).. Grabbed two optocoupler as a encoder sensors and purchased IBT-2 43Amp dc motor driver from Aliexpress ( around 17 US dollar + free shipping). The servo controller Arduino programming and concept is from Miguel Sanchez a very generaous guy in open source/hardware community.

Its a PID closed loop with STEP and DIR pin as an input. I am just posting a teaser video however details of my electronics shall be shared as per demand.

You always have the coolest projects!
Keep us in the loop on your build, it sounds pretty cool.

Wow... amazingly found the servomotors with Quadrature incremental encoder at a very bargain price of around Rs 340 /Ea( ~$3.2US).. couldn't resist to get the three from the local shop in Sadiqabad... The shopkeeper was selling these to locals who make small fans out of them.... what a waste of the motors especially the encoder electronics....
The first thing i did to identify the wiring... Posting for record...
PS: Unfortunately Three FANS will not be converted by using these motors now...
