Hello from the Pacific Northwet

Post by NormL1 »

South of Seattle, WA to be exact. Just purchase a Max V3 and am awaiting delivery. It will be my first 3D printer, although I do have a much bigger one on order as well. 57 year old curmudgeon that always has to be doing something new. I have a lot of experience printing, but, always from a service. I own a surveying/laser scanning company and 3D print our battery systems, antenna mounts, ancillary GPS gear and any widget we need. I also have a street/track car that I am very fond of and have printed a lot of things for it. From the laser scan of the car, I have printed:

A working chassis from laser sinter. The required gap for laser sinter made it too sloppy though. It also had a little wind up motor to test how much propulsion I could get from the flexibility of the plastic

Some novelty items, this one with a maple leaf into it

Surveying models (I didn't paint and only did the modeling)

Surveying parts, the top one is three different antenna types for cellular connection for correction

Can't wait to receive the kit and start some serious unsupervised adult play! Sorry about the bandwidth, OK not really

Looks like an excellent setup you have there. It'd be great to see what sort of hobby room you have if you've made models that slick, and it's probably a perfect place to stick the thing (Assuming you have a hobby room for your modeling gear).

ha! I didn't see the "Sumner,WA" field for some reason. I actually went to Sumner High. :D

NormL1, if you need help with your printer, just holler. We're in rock-throwing distance of each other. :D

My hobby room is at my office. My personal office is 21' x 19.5 feet and includes a electronics room and desk, my surveying desk (boring stuff like boundary calcs, phone conversations, GPS reduction and laser scanning occur here), a 3D printing desk, a 42" document scanner and a big comfy thinkin chair
