Thanks for buying a SeeMeCNC Rostock Max V3 and I hope you will consider creating a build thread or at least sending some pictures.
Waiting for the kit is the hardest part but you will have fun building it.

Build took just over 21 hours and it now prints. Likely some pictures tomorrow.

Notes:

Ordering Kaptan tape was annoying, but it didn't slow me down. Only because I stressed one of the spring arms in a trolley while taking apart to fix.... so I waited for those replacement parts. I was missing a couple screws and had extras on others. I hope they will start throwing in a screw spares kit. One extra of each screw would be great. I found them in town, so no loss.

While screwing in one of the end stop switches there must have been a lineup issue as the screw is through, but was about to break going in or out due to stress and appears bent.... everything is rock stead so rather than risking having to order more parts I left it that way and hid it under the cover.

Illness sucks, delayed me 4 days.

I would prefer that the side panel screws were not both on the top half. The panel doesn't hold perfectly square to the support. Also, those go in really tight and can mar the perfect finish

Initial prints with Matter control and I assume matter slicer.

I was VERY careful on the endstop screws, but was still just barely touching so I had to run a file through the hold a couple of times for clearance.

Left my SD reader at work, so I had to make the first few play prints via USB.

Overall a very non stressful build, varied enough to keep it interesting. I was very happy to have a large vise, a good soldering iron, and I ordered magnifying lenses so they are on hand for future builds...those thermisters are SMALL. I did cheat and use a milling machine as a press to help the initial set on the bearing on a couple of wheels before switching to the large vise.

I wished for a nice hex driver, didn't own the right one. I avoided the power drill, didn't want to strip anything out...

Thanks. Trying to figure out the stringing now, I don't think it is heat related. But still testing. I saw some REALLY odd temp control last night, the targets were being ignored by both the head and plate. Plate was over by 5c and the head under by 4c. This morning everything was acting normal again. Just odd.

Next is measuring the dimensions...

Wow! I just noticed that there is a name plate on the back of Benchy....and with magnifying lenses I can read it!!

Well, it looks like the current SeeMeCNC Raspberry Pi kit includes standoff for holding the corners of the board (like the Rambo) but the holes are lined up with the holes in the Raspi board. The options appears to be drill holes, or find standoffs that work. Looking at the standoffs supplied, the main cylinder looks symetrical, I might just cut off the corner holding part, drill a hole in the other end. I would have to have a really short screw to keep the screws from interfering with each other... Hmmm.

Still looking for install instructions for the Rostock Max v3 to see if I am missing something obvious...

After a little more investigation, it is clear that the holes I thought were for the Raspberry Pi, are not actually for the Raspberry Pi. More research... I don't want to use the upper blank side panel that is reserved for an additional extruder. I do want it up near the controller. So, either drilling holes or printing an adapter of some sort. I should figure out what these holes are really for so I don't have a conflict in the future.

The holes ARE for the Pi. The mounts are designed to old the sides of the board, not go through the mounting holes. (Just like the RAMBo mounting posts.)

Thanks, in trying that that approach it looks like one of my holes is off by about 4mm which would explain why that didn't appear what was intended.

Finished the Raspberry Pi install. I "fixed" the mount hole alignment with a zip tie. I powered the Raspi from the Rambo following the pictures in http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... wer#p97334.

So you're saying that the mounting post by the red tie is too far away from the board to support the side of it? it doesn't go though the hole in the board...

Correct, the other 3 are in position to support the sides of the board, but this one is 3mm off on one axis.
