Weekend plans

First up is the accelerometer board from seeMEcnc... i wonder where the thermistor connection is?
Next is a new cooling system. The Berd Air from MakerHive. I've saw that it has gotten generally positive reviews, so i'm excited to try it out. I designed a mount for it and will print it as soon as my Raspberry Pi mount (not pictured) prints

It was nicely packaged, though i will have to ask what the deal is with the extra metal rod
Last but not least, a new effector platform/hot end mount from 713maker.com. Looks like quality stuff. They were even kind enough to through in a free mount for the accelerometer, as it is still in beta. They included pictoral instructions to put it together, so i think i should be able to figure it out.

The thermistor connects to the 2 holes at the lower right by the label PART + Not the holes in the box, that's for the part cooling fan. They are the 2 unlabeled holes slightly to the right.

I hate unlabeled holes!

kind of dissapointed that the accerometer board didn't come with the plastic cover... and it looks like they took a drimel to it to cut a trace.... But, as long as it works

The cover is really part of the HE280 system. It is sized properly for the hotend and accelerometer mount on it. You'll likely have to design and print a custom cap depending on how and what you mount it to.
I did add a comment to the build guide about those holes. One of the annotation arrows in the photo is way off and it is not "intuitively obvious" which hole to use.

The image in Step 32 has two red arrows that are pointing to the thermistor lead holes. The blue arrows point to the heater lead holes.
I don't understand how that's even remotely vague.

I didn't even look at the directions yet! But I have put the effector unit together already...

Gene, it's this image in step 30
https://d17kynu4zpq5hy.cloudfront.net/i ... LcLFr.huge
The red arrows do not point precisely to the holes. In fact, the red arrow on the right is pointing directly at the whole with the + next to it. Step 30 is where you route the thermistor leads not step 32. I figured it out before seeing the photo in step 32. That's why it is vague in step 30.

The picture in mchackney's post is way clearer.

They always are, that's how he gets even with Gene.

I didn't do the photos for the He280.

didn't get as far a long as i hopped... had issues with a new driver for led lights and got distracted by football.. so...

Wow, I turned on the berdAir for the first time and i was shocked by how much air it moves at 100%... it seems like it was significantly more than the stock fan. It was loud, but thats kind of expected. I also mounted it on the side of my enclosure so im sure that it kind of amplifys the sound. With as much air as it puts out i doubt i'll have to run it over 20% for anything i print with ABS and it is almost whisper quite at those ranges
On the accelerometer board, can you just attached a 5mm led do the "LED" points on the board, (eg, is there already a current limiting resistor?)

Hey Q,
Yes, there's a resistor in that LED circuit already. Drop on an led and you're good to go!
NOTED ON THE UNLABELED thermistor holes guys. We'll add that into the next rev of boards.
Yes, there is a trace cut on the boards, near the center ring. It's intentional. That trace connects the hotend body to the V- as an in-case for a contact type probe. but as we found the accel board, that trace was left and never altered before getting the first production run fabbed

Was making great progress till Hurricane Mathew stole all my power. I still havnt gotten a print yet, but I'm working on that direction.. I'm pretty sure that the transformer blew, so power probably won't be restored till to tomorow evening at the earliest.
But, I did manage to get some pictures

One issue i did run into was that it seems like the spacing between the mounting hole and the led pins is too close. This represents a dead short, definately need a nylon washer... maybe on the next revision spread the holes apart a bit.

Mounted my new berdAir on the side of my enclosure. I designed the mount to snap in. It holds it securely and i can remove it if i need to. Also, i added a little hat so berdie doesn't get cold

Nice overview of the 713maker.com effector and hot end mount. They gave me the mount for the accerometer board for free, and everything is nice and light. The new hotend ways about the same as the old one, despising adding the berdAir clip and accerometer board.

i made this "clip on" berdAir mount, i can easy snap if off so i can lower it to remove my nozzle if i need to. i needed a bit of hot clue to set it in place. I'm not sure how well it will hold up to the strains of printing, but we'll see.

I added a fan to move the air around my heated enclosure. I sort of feel like a lot of the heat is getting trapped at the top of my enclosure, i think maybe this fan will enable the chamber to heat more evenly.

Nice view of the underside of the 713maker effector mount and BerdAir hose. Like i said before, the berd air really pushes a lot more air that i'd expect. i can't wait to try it out

while i was at it i decided to add some proper led lighting instead of the strips. They even dimable..... took me forever to figure out you have to short out the ends of the led lights in order to get them to light up. (constant current).

nice overview

Thanks for the heads up and I also note that mhackney has commented on the thermister holes too....

Here is a before and after (sorta of) they both are peices with a lot of top layer space. The berdAir makes a huge difference, that is probably the best upgrade of the three (although 713makers mount is visually stunning)
The white is after, black is before.

Looking good.
Will need to get me an air pump as well. Would be interesting to see how I can incorporate that in my effector.
