Issue with calibration

Hi,

I'm having problem calibrating using the gcode file mentioned in this page http://seemecnc.dozuki.com/Guide/Step+6 ... +MAX+v3/51

When I print that file using MatterControl, all 3 axis try to go past the end stops and they start to grind!

I've verified that all 3 end stops are operational with M119 command. I can also manually move the axis using the CONTROLS in MatterControl.

Can you please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like this is a new build? So M119 "works". Have you tried homing and if so what happens.

Hi mhackney,

It is a new build.

Home does the same thing. All 3 axis move up and then start to grind once it reach the top.

Ok, so that's where we need to start. Tell us how you checked with M119. It sounds like your end stops are either not triggering or wired or configured incorrectly.

You did install the flat head screw at the top of each carriage, correct? And when you push a carriage to the top do you hear a click from the switch?

I have the flat head screw and it does click when it is pressed against the end stop.

I use MatterControl->Settings & Controls->Options->Show Terminal and type the commands there.

When none of the screw heads are touching the end stops then this is the output from M119 command : x_max:L y_max:L z_max:L
Then using MC, I release the motors and push everything up against the end stops and the M119 output is : x_max:H y_max:H z_max:H

Thanks for the detailed response. This is a head scratcher. Can you post a photo of your RAMBo board and post it please. It's late so I'll mill this overnight. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Actually, I need to verify this but maybe you have the switches wired incorrectly. A photo of that would help. Or a description of which terminal lugs you used.

I'm using the 2 outer leads as shown in the step 3 in this page: http://seemecnc.dozuki.com/Guide/Step+3 ... ssembly/43

The picture I've attached is not very clear. 2 of the outer leads are bend. The white and black wires are connected to those 2 leads and the middle lead is straight up and not connected to anything.

Don't test all three at once - test them one at a time. If you're holding all three at the same time, it'll show if the switches are working, but not show that one or more are plugged into the wrong input on the board. For example, you could have the X and Z connectors swapped and you'd never know it unless you check them one at a time.

I think Gene nailed it. I was hoping to tell from the photos but the endstop connections are not marked and the photo is not clear but swapping a pair of them would result in the problem you are seeing.

Thanks geneb and mhackney for the suggestion. I had checked each of them one at a time to make sure each of them were working. I didn't pay attention to see if the right axis had the value changed from L to H. I'll verify that and try to swap the connections.

That solved the problem!!! I swap x and z end stop connectors!

When the end stop in the X tower is pressed it shows High for Z end stop and vice versa! I'm fine with it as long as it works.

Some update for anyone else who may encounter similar issues.

The printout was flipped horizontally (mirror image). So I swap the Z and X stepper motor connections instead and it is printing perfectly!

Stepper motor and not endstops were swapped? You'd get the same results with homing but as you observed, a mirrored part.
