Calibration process troubles Rostock max v1

Post by Ruken »

So I just got a used Rostock max v1, not sure exactly how old but it uses a steves extruder and 0.91 firmware. It has magnetic ball arms, not sure if that matters. It had settings in the EEPROM so a copy just in case. I think shipping must have done something because the z-height was off slightly. I'm at page 173 of the v1 manual. I got G0 Z0 F3500 to work and the hotend stops on the paper alright. But when I try G0 Z5 X0 Y90 F3500 like the manual says the hotend sits way above the bed, like almost 5mm above. And G0 Z5 X77.94 Y-45 F3500 strikes the bed about 3mm above z=0. This is my first printer so I'm not sure what to do with it this far off, adjusting the endstop screws didn't change anything enough. All the towers were square with the bottom printer plate but the top plate is a little tilted, should I fix this or leave it alone? The belts were loose enough to slip but the idler pulleys were at max height, so I pulled them through the cheapskate mount clamps a little, should I undo that?

The issue you describe would be a bad horizontal radius. You'll need to experiment with lowering it, I cannot say by how much, in increments of .2.

It would be helpful if you included a picture of the tilted top plate, potentially with a spirit (bubble) level on it so that we can see how far off it is.

I fixed the top plate and was able to calibrate this time, it was way off.
