Kisslicer making strings

Hi
Now I have problems with Kisslicer.
When I load a model, some orange tracks are shown on the model. After slicing there are some tracks sticking out of the model.
These tracks are also visible in Repetier and on the print.
Several items I have downloaded from Thingsinverse has this problem.
Pls advice
/Poul

KIISlicer is very sensitive to bad or close to degenerate geometry, some of these things aren't easily fixed without access to the original model. I believe the orange lines are degeneracies or near degeneracies, i.e. very thin triangles that are almost lines, the issue is it makes it virtually impossible to create a valid normal.
I would suggest posting on the KiSSlicer forums, Jonathan usually responds, but this is as much an artifact of the algorithm he uses to slice as it is anything else, and I don't think that will radically change.

I use ZBrush and Rhino to clean up bad geometry automatically but I've also heard that MeshLab (
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/) is a good free solution that can fix lots of geometry problems.

Not sure if it will fix your problem, but
this free service from Netfabb has fixed several of my geometry problems. Upload your troubled stl and a repaired one is more or less instantly ready for download.
I have had "fixed" models still show some orange lines in KISSlicer. But it can make the difference between a model that works and one that does not work.
