EZ struder retract issue.

I've found that when doing retracts the filament is getting out of the knurled groove by pushing the spring loaded roller sideways, like this (hard to see i know):

The clear plastic cover that goes on there looks like it is supposed to stop this happening, but maybe not given the one screw its held on with, so I've cabled tied the thing down to see if that fixes it (test print running now):

The annoying thing is it only seems to happen after hours of running, the extruder motor is running at about 40c at the moment (currently 32c abient in the room). I don't think that should be hot enough to stuff it up?
Also I'm running PLA and the retract settings are:
Speed 110mm/s
Length on move 6.8mm
Z lift 0.3mm
Min travel requiring retraction 20mm
Which is OOTB settings I think?
Should these be OK or is the speed too fast?
Is this a known issue of the setup? I didn't experience this for the first 6 months odd of using the machine.
