Lots of stringing

Hey everyone,
Since I have upgraded to the HE280 on my V2, I have had an issue with lots of stringing. I have tried tweaking my slicer settings but it seems that no matter what I do they are still there. I have attached some of my slicer settings below. I am printing with eSun Pla Pro. Their recommended temp is 205-225 but I have even lowered it to 195 and still get stringing. Any tips would be helpful.

This is one of the tests I have tried to print and there are strings on all sides from top to bottom.

Retraction Vertical Lift, is that the Z height it moves when going between sections?
If so, I run that at 0, as well as 6mm retract and have 0 stringing, ever. The perimeters help to wipe the nozzle off.

After changing the Z hop setting (repetier host's name for it) to anything other than 0, i got stringing, everywhere. They werent big strings or anything, just spiderweb like, which are harder to get off than big ones (cause they just break).

Actually, correction. When doing a bridging test recently, I did get some minor stringing/ooze between the 2 towers.
In this case, it strings because there is no infill, so it does the perimeter and immediately moves to the other side, not giving itself anywhere to wipe any bit of ooze off.

6mm retracts with the HE280?

Thats what I always used with the original PEEK hotend, and it worked good then. Didnt change the settings after putting the HE280 on (besides nozzle size) and it all still prints good. Is it excessive? Probably, maybe, idk. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

6mm retracts on the HE280 and PLA is a recipe for disaster. It may work for a short time, but will eventually jam the hot end. For the purposes of retraction, the HE280 should be treated like an all-metal E3D.

Try moving your Z-lift to 4mm. Also make sure you set your Z axis speed to 200mm/sec. Set the retraction speed to about 35mm/sec.

I'll give that a shot. Here is a picture, although blurry, of the stringing I am getting.

Hmm... well that might probably explain why ive been getting intermittent layers which seem like the hotend is jammed/near 0 extrusion. So what sort of retraction then? 4mm? 2mm?

Start with 1mm @ 20mm/s.
I would not exceed 2mm.

You are very right! Found this out the hard way. I asked Simplify3d to help me with my excess stringing and they were nice enough to actually build me a profile in S3d. Anyways, they set the retraction distance to 6.50mm and after a couple of hours I come back to my print and it stopped feeding (clogged HE280). Cleaned out the nozzle, restarted and a few hours later, clogged again and here I am. I am going to try the settings you recommended Gene and hope for the best. It has not been very easy trying to restart a print at exactly the same spot.

Wow, surprised i still found this thread without looking at ones ive posted on. Annyway, i figured out why my hotend kept jamming,... The PTFE tube wasnt all the way into the heat break. Ive since tapered the edge on it [ptfe tube] so it will go in better, as well as sanded it down a bit to aid in assembly/reinstall.

I havent had time to reassemble my hotend, but i feel as if this fix should fix the jamming/intermittent voided layers.
