The Z height 1.7 mm ghost

Hello, i'm having issues calibrating my Rostock Max V2.

The symptom im experiencing is:

- after calibration, the first layer begins printing at approximately 1.7mm off the bed.

the calibration technique i am using is:

1. Ensure all Stop screws are evenly protruding
2. home towers and set new Z height (approx 0.3mm)
3. Save new Z height
4. run matter controller software print leveling (3 point)
5. test print

Every time i test print, it is approximately 1.7 mm higher that the new z height (consistently across all axis)

If I bury the head into the galss/tape (by at least 1.7mm) I can force the first layer to print at a height that adheres to the bed but the quality is never exact and difficult to determine "how hard i need to push the head against the bed" to get the perfect first layer.

im considering upgrading the firmware and doing a factory reset but i wanted to ask the question first. i built this printer about 18 months ago and have not upgraded the arms or head. the firmware probably has a new version since then i figure.

The last time I read the V2 Manual about 1/2 year ago I don't remember what you are doing being what it recommended to calibrate the machine.
If I'm right then go back and read the V2 calibration procedure.

Yeah, that's not the calibration process. I'm not even sure if it's A calibration process. :D
