E3D V6 Thermister Cartridge Solder to Accelerometer - Getting a Divorce

Post by Ravitch »

Howdy All,

Want to make sure I'm doing this right before I start cutting and soldering. Got my E3D mount kit/effector plate (for Max 3) from 713Maker, and everything is going great minus two things: The cartridge thermistor doesn't reach the accelerometer board, not even close. It comes with the red / black cable, so I was thinking to attach the cartridge to that, then cut it and solder to the board. But if I remember right, the thermistor leads were tiny, and the holes were tiny on the board. Will these thermistor leads fit through if I'm cutting and soldering the red and black cable that attaches to the cartridge? Also, what are people doing for fans, as the 713maker effector plate doesn't have the screw holes to mount the fans like the stock HE280 setup.

Side note, as soon as I get this up and running with the E3D V6, I'm going to divorce this machine and put the Rostock Max V3, with two HE280's hot ends, one E3D V6 hot end, the 713 Maker mount kit (in blue and silver), and an installed Bondtech QR Extruder up for sale for $900 and I'll deliver within 100 miles of zip code 21409, Annapolis, MD. For the 3-5 days at a time that I get it running problem free, it's amazing, with nothing but perfect prints. And from day 1 I've always had perfect first layers covering the entire bed, no matter what. But the Hot Ends have been nothing but a nightmare, two of them. And one of them I can't blame on my poor assembly because I bought it pre-assembled. But one random filament change can send the hot end into a tizzy that takes me 2-3 days of troubleshooting and tinkering to fix random new issue #1,293. I thought I finally had it good, with a solid 7 days of problem free around the clock printing, and last night changed the filament over and now extruding crap out of the hot end with non stop pucks. The old tighten down the Bowden tube isn't working anymore, re-chamfering a perfect Bowden tube end didn't work, took apart the hot end and checked every mm of it, multiple cold'ish pulls to grab every last bit of gunk out, and I still can't get the Bowden tube to seat right and puck up in the first 2-3 minutes.

Too Long Didn't Read:

- Need help to make sure I'm going to solder the thermistor cartridge right (thanks!!)

- Part fans with the 713 maker mount?

- I give up on the Rostock Max V3, any advice on where to list it for sale for $900 with two HE280 hot ends, one E3D V6 hot end (new type), a 713 Maker Mount kit with effector plate, and a Bondtech QR extruder...delivered within 100 miles of Annapolis, MD.

Thanks as always, the support on the forums has always been amazing!!

No worries replying to this post, it was a bust. Got it all set up, powered it on, and blew a fuse. Just put it up for sale in the members market and Craigslist. Thanks for all the help up to this point :)

You might want to correct your mistake before you sell it. ;)
