Hey guys, I'm new here.
My extruder stepper is skipping and pulling filament backwards. This only starts happening after a few layers are printed. I've had this printer for a little over a week now and it worked fine for the first week. Here's a video of it happening... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO3VldS38ds

That happens when there's too much back pressure. At a guess you're either running your filament at too low a temperature, or you've got a jam in your hot end.

Have you done a calibration yet? There is a very good chance that your printer is printing out objects that are smaller than their intended size. If that's the case, then the extruder will jam up because it is trying to extrude the amount of plastic needed for the correct size, but in a smaller footprint (think ten pounds of sugar in a five pound sack).
That was what was happening to me, I discovered it when I got around to printing something that needed to be dimensionally accurate. It was off by a bit more than 5%. Obviously I corrected the scaling, but you will also have to scale *down* the amount of material that you are extruding as well, or you will end up with the same problem as before (it took me awhile to figure this out).
Print a few layers of this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:386448 and see if it's off.
And I got rid of my original hot end for a Prometheus, and I replaced the Eztruder with this:

I swapped out the Nema 17 stepper motor for a Nema 23, using a Nema 17 to Nema 23 adapter that I printed out (which is when I discovered my scaling problem).
I had to mod the extruder to get things to fit, but it was rather simple to do (if not pretty...) After these mods the extruder drive and hot end are performing flawlessly.
