Hi All,

My name is Idris, from sunny Wales in the UK.

I wanted to introduce you all to a new type of Z-probe that we've been developing over on the RepRap forums. It started with the idea that's been knocking around of using piezoelectric disks for detecting contact between the nozzle of the printer and the bed. I notice that Leadinglights has posted about this over here and he is one of the people involved with the development of this method.

To cut a long story short I make and sell parts and kits to utilise piezo based Z-probing in on 3D printers. We claim an accuracy of 0.01mm with a std dev of 0.007 and many users have achieved significantly better than this. We now have 4-500 in the wild with an overwhelmingly positive reception.

If you're interested I'm here to answer your questions or take a look at http://www.precisionpiezo.co.uk. Watch it working here here
