3D scans from a Metrologic MS7120

Hey I was cleaning up the garage today and found these two bar code scanners I bought years ago. I wondered if anyone knew of a way to 'hack' these to make a cheap 3D laser scanner?? Seems like it might have the right stuff. Meaning it's small, omnidirectional and it's a laser scanner, LOL.
In the current world we live in, it seams plausible to take a product like this and have it function a way it was never intended to work.
PS - I've also had dead inkjet printer on my dining room table thinking someone out there would want to strip it down for parts... Am I crazy on both counts today?
