Hi everyone,
First post. Here is my new Rostock with custom enclosure. I am still tuning it in but I figure I would post a picture of it.

Acrylic Rostock with:
LCD screen/ SD card reader
Dual Extruder (not fully installed until after I get one extruder down)
Acrylic enclosure with 120mm exhaust fan piped with PVC to the outside

On the door to the enclosure I thought about making it hinged but due to limited space I made it removable. Basically used 4 drawer pulls and some elastic cord to hold it on. Real easy to install and remove to gain access to all of the Rostock.

Nice. I bet that cuts down on the noise as well.

It does muffle the noise quite well. And there are no fumes that escape from the enclosure.

When I made the enclosure I used .25" acrylic because I wanted to use flat head screws and also am taking advantage of the thickness for strength. Probably could have saved some money by going thinner but then I would have needed to reinforce the corners of the wood frame.

I initially used Velcro to hold the front door on with window gasket between the Velcro but the Velcro didn't bond well to the acrylic and came off after a couple of days even without opening the door. That is why I went with the elastic cord. It was cheap and simple and works well.

I'd buy that enclosure!

What are the approximate dimensions of your enclosure? Now that you are using it, would you build it larger or smaller ?

The outside dimensions are; 32" wide, 22" deep, 40.5" tall. It was built with 1x2 wood frame and if you look closely the front top and bottom pieces of wood are routered down to .75", without that routing the Rostock won't fit through the opening vertically. I have just under 2" of clearance front and back between the Rostock base and wood frame. I also have the rostock shifted all the way to the left, this is to allow installation of a new roll of filament. A little tight but not bad. And since I have the duel extruder feeder installed I have to have the Rostock rotated so the LCD is pointed to the left slightly.

So far I think it is just the right size. It is a little tough to work on the Z axis but not impossible. There is a lot of "free" space above the feeders but it gives me more room to work and possibly expand

If you want I can take more pictures so you can see how it fits.

Only change I would make is to use a smaller computer fan or have a larger piece of PVC pipe off the back then reduce. Right now I have a toilet flange with a 4" to 2" reducer and I can feel some air blow into the enclosure because of the restricted flow right after the fan. The fan is wired directly to the power supply, I may hook it up to the rambo to reduce the speed so it isn't fighting the back pressure.

Thanks for the reply. I had an enclosure around another printer because my wife didn't like the smell of ABS. I used an 1.5" shop vac style hose with a 40mm computer fan about half way along the length of the hose (in an piece of PVC pipe as thefan holder). The fan doesn't have a high CFM rating but pulls enough negative pressure to move the vapors in the right direction (and out of the house through a hole in the wall sharing and opening for my amateur radio coax cables). Plus the low flow doesn't cool off the enclosure too much for long duration ABS prints. My enclosure is only a 12.5" cube.

I know I am still new so I figured I would oversize the fan. Thanks for letting me how you did yours. I may switch over to a smaller fan.

I also want to add a cooling fan to the extruder. So with that in mind I have to figure out how I want to control the fan and mount it. I have the dual extruder ready for install so I want to find a modular solution for placement of the cooling fan. Right now just printing abs but have two rolls of nylon when I feel ambitious. Haven't even thought about pla yet. I figure learn one material at a time.

I need to cut a set of parts to mount the LCD to the elecronics door. Since you're using those same components, do you have pics of how it goes together? It's not clear at all from the part drawings.

No problem. After looking at it again (assembled 3 weeks ago) I realized I had to make some minor changes. The holes I mounted the LCD brackets in were undersized so I had to drill them out slightly and countersink the far side. Also when I installed the RAMBO I had some extra spacers in my kit so I put two between the door and board and another under the nut. This gives me just enough room to run the ribbon cables Also I was short a couple of screws in my kit so I used some longer 6-32 to mount the RAMBO.

And by the way Last night I took all the arms off (again) and adjusted them. Now they all fall straight down under gravity with only one side attached. It seems to have gotten rid of some of my layer mis-alignments. Thank you for the advice. I am also trying KISSlicer right now to see if that does anything also.

Be careful tightening the acrylic, I cracked this mount. I have some acrylic adhesive to try, need to practice on scrap pieces first.

And also right now the LCD just sits between the brackets. I can slide it side to side and take it out without removing the brackets. I plan on making something to change this and to hold the face plate on unless someone else comes up with a solution first.

Thanks. That clears up things immensely. I'm not taking the bottom off my machine to install the LCD door, so I'll have to create a new mount that I can use on the existing electronics door.
