Extrude is choppy - broken into segments and not complete.

Previously, when I would select a manual 10 mm extrude, it would extrude for about 5 seconds and I would get 10 mm. Now, it is very inconsistent.

If I now select 10 mm, it may extrude 1 or 2 mm pause and then extrude a few more millimeters but not enough to make 10 mm.

Similarly, if I select a 100 mm extrude, it will have perhaps 4 or 5 bursts and it will result in less than 100 mm being extruded.

Does anyone have an idea of what is going on and how to fix it?

Try using Repetier Host and see if you get a different behavior.
