Does anyone know of a way to watch or log the communication between the host and firmware? Specifically, for linux or mac. I'm having issues and I think this would be a big help.

Thanks,
Tom

Repetier will let you log the session, it's in the printer setup, but the console window includes everything if you disable the filters.
There are two sorts of log filters in repetier, one is local, i.e. it doesn't print logs marked in a specific way usually ACK's these include the temperature monitoring, the second controls how verbose the firmware is, those are the buttons grouped with other printer controls, changing those actually sends an MCode that enable or disables logging in the firmware.
