Teflon Lining for Rostock Max Hot End?

I just received my kit on 03/25/2013. I don't appear to have any "Teflon Lining Tube" with my kit. I've looked everywhere. When I took apart the hot end, it appears to have a black inner the seems to mesh up perfectly with the tip, so even if I did have Teflon tubing, I'm not sure where it would go...

Any ideas?

My kit delivered in early January had the hot end already assembled, including the liner. Perhaps yours is the same?

this another part where the manual is wrong, if you bought your kit recently your hot end is fully assembled and ready to install. No need for inserting the teflon. its already in there.
but it wouldn't hurt to check to make sure its there.

and by the way, this isn't whining that some moderators here think i do a lot about this manual. Truth is the guy can't take any constructive criticisms about this manual and sees every discrepancy I note as an insult to his manhood. Rather than fix it. grow up.

Yep. I left that detail out on purpose on the off chance you ran out of things in the manual to whine about.

I've never deleted a thread here and the only one I've ever locked was the one YouTube Boy started. John pulled that lock because he wanted more entertainment.

I think Gene and I are the only moderators and I've never deleted or locked a thread either - thought about it a few times though. But at the end of the day, we are all guests here. If we don't like it, we can go somewhere else.

I am going to stick my nose in here, wanted or not. I've always felt that if anyone didn't like the manual Gene has created they
could always use the one created by someone else or create their own. This constant bickering about the manual really should
stop - it's the only one we have and 98% of it is damn good the other 2% is because they constantly change things at Seemecnc
and THEY do not update the manual. Just my 2 cents worth.

I wasn't complaining about the manual, i was just stating the facts. apparently some people can't handle it.

Constructive Feedback:

"Apparently the folks at SeeMeCNC have update the Rostock MAX kit again. The manual does not yet reflect this. The new kits have the hot ends pre-assembled wit the PTFE tubing already installed."

Not Constructive Feedback:

"this another part where the manual is wrong"

I prefer constructive feedback as I am sure everyone else here does.

that's strange because there seems to be a thread missing in cassetti's build build log "where you told me to shut up about your manual" that seems to be conveniently missing

Well, being that I started this thread, I'd like to interject a couple things about this build...

1. First of all, big thanks to SeeMeCNC. The kit quality is amazing. I can tell a LOT of time went into engineering this thing...

2. I've had to use the videos (what ones are available, seems like several are missing), the assembly manual, the RepRap WIKI, and 3rd party videos to get to the point I am at right now, and it's been challenging to say the least. I started keeping notes in the beginning of things I was going to suggest to make the build easier for people, but I was spending more time writing notes than assembling...

3. I get that it's a kit, and that SeeMeCNC was just trying to give us the best of what they have figured out so far, and unfortunately it's a learning process. They are still learning, we are still learning. I just hope that someday we can get the kit nailed down and get a really good assembly manual together so future Rostock builders don't have so much confusion.

I'm still up in the air as to how to connect the LCD (although after fiddling with the board that came with it, I think I have a vague idea) and how to mount the dual extruders... I hope there is a video or something somewhere, because for the life of me I can't see how you can put two extruders on that mounting platform..

if the manual is wrong, its wrong. take these comments and fix it. rather call me a whiner, or whatever. I'm not going to sugar it coat to make it sound better.

Those are individual messages WITHIN a thread. The _messages_ in question were removed at cassetti's request.

I DO understand you perspective...however, Geneb did produce this manual as a goodwill gesture. No one asked, paid or forced him to do it. If CNC changes things it for the good of the product. The manual was provided at the start of this product as a reference not an 1.2.3....for assembly for the life of the product. He HAS tried to update it with the CNC changes as reported by us, the community. This does NOT happen as quickly as some would like because his build is done. HIS MANUAL was basically a build thread but many found it useful so it was placed as an "official document". Maybe it should have just been a build thread.....but I for one am happy it wasn't. You have to admit that it's been MOSTLY a great reference point for the build. Now shake hands and let's all try to improve the process together for the next group......

Just for the record, my hot-end DID have the teflon lining tube pre-installed. It was hard to tell at first, since I didn't really know what I was looking for, but I was printing with PLA and not using a fan and got jammed up. When I took the hot-end apart (while hot) the teflon tube just fell right out. When I first took it apart (before ever using it) I could get the tube out at all, I tried shaking it, tried grabbing it with needle nose, it was stuck in there.

Anyways, just posting this for others who may have a similar situation.

Removing the teflon is fairly easy. Remove the nozzle - the tube normally will come out with it, but if not, use a 1/8" (or 3 mm) Allen wrench and push the tube out from the top (where the PTC fitting screws on). You just need something larger than 2mm in diameter and less than 4mm to push through the top. You can do this with the hot end installed on the machine too.

Thanks for the tip! I'm a total noob, I had no idea what I was doing and didn't want to risk damaging anything so when I couldn't get it out - I assumed it wasn't there.. Now that I know what to look for, my next build will go much smoother. ;)
